“It’s a special evening for us as we officially launch our second editorial project, “Leaders to Watch.” Tonight, we are here to share with you the most remarkable experiences from the most influential businesses currently. First and foremost, I want to thank all of you for joining us tonight.  Tonight, we invite you to discover the visionary leaders, groundbreaking strategies, and enduring values that have propelled these companies to the forefront of “Leaders to Watch.” Our projects celebrate their resilience, creativity, and unwavering commitment to excellence, offering our readers valuable insights into what it takes to succeed in today’s competitive marketplace. Whether you are an aspiring entrepreneur, an industry professional, or simply passionate about business, these companies are exemplars of success. So, we invite you to take a look behind the scenes of this vibrant economic landscape,” says Anda Sebesi, Editor in Chief at Business Review.

The Leaders to Watch Awards Gala began with an invigorating opening keynote speech from Antoniu Panait, Managing Director at Vastint Romania, who set the tone for the evening, highlighting the crucial interplay between innovation, sustainability, and community engagement in shaping the future of business in Romania. The event reached its high point with the announcement of the esteemed leaders featured in the “Leaders to Watch” editorial project, applauding their resilience, creativity, and relentless pursuit of excellence that characterize their professional endeavors and contributions.

“Thank you to all the participants who allocated time to visit us and be part of this wonderful event. We are here to talk about leadership, and I truly believe that it starts with learning continuously. We wouldn’t be here without the 14 members of my team. Though small, this team has created 100,000 square meters of usable area in Bucharest, and we plan to do even more.

As a leader, even if you have a vision or drive, you cannot succeed without a strong team. I am fortunate to have such a team with which I’ve developed this project and integrated it into the community. It’s encouraging to see more and more people from the area visiting our establishments and utilizing our amenities, including our tenants.

This project is also the result of our fifty years of development experience in Europe and today holds a LEED Platinum certification, a testament to our commitment to environmental sustainability. We’re prepared to take the next steps in innovation. In the next phase, we aim to operate without any fossil fuels, a move made possible by technological advancements that also align with environmental needs.

With record heat recorded at the beginning of this year worldwide, the urgency for environmental action has never been clearer. We are ready and have implemented the necessary ESG taxonomy to combat these challenges effectively. The landscape is changing, and we must understand who does what and how we can contribute more effectively in the future.

I welcome all leaders who are here today, changing the future and contributing to these necessary changes. Thank you very much for your presence,” says Panait.

Without further ado, let’s unveil the Leaders to Watch:

Chimcomplex

Awarded for the most significant achievement in Romania’s chemical industry, Chimcomplex has demonstrated remarkable resilience and innovation under the leadership of CEO Stefan Vuza. The company’s strategic investments and focus on diversification have played a crucial role in its success. In recent years, Chimcomplex has notably expanded its production capabilities and portfolio, including the development of new, eco-friendly chemical products that align with global sustainability standards.

“Twenty years ago, I would have answered the question of why Chimcomplex is successful by invoking God, since we are all pawns on His chessboard. Later, I came to understand that I am also a part of God. Ten years ago, I would have thanked the people, as they are our greatest asset. Five years ago, I would have praised perseverance. However, I now believe that success is simply a result, and it’s the result of a job well done. To achieve this, you need to experiment, make mistakes, and persevere—sometimes more, sometimes less. You need to be willing to change people. Just as a child learns in a thousand moves, and may fall a thousand times before taking their first step or make countless other errors before they can manage a fork, running a company or a chemical plant requires the strength to overcome 20,000 mistakes while adjusting all the variables. So, success is merely a result; luck also plays a part, but here I believe in the saying by Maria Tanase: a person is made through their own hard work.” Stefan Vuza said in a recorded message played at the Gala:

Novo Nordisk Romania

Under Cecilia Radu’s leadership, Novo Nordisk Romania has continued its quest to combat chronic diseases by providing innovative treatments that improve patient outcomes. Their dedication to enhancing access to effective medical solutions is crucial in addressing global health challenges and improving the quality of life for patients with chronic health conditions.

Our company has a long history of 101 years, and while we are successful, our goal is not to be the most successful company globally but to be profoundly beneficial to the world.” Said Irina Ionescu, Senior Director of External Affairs.

Their initiatives aim to make a positive social impact by improving healthcare access and outcomes, particularly in underserved communities, through innovative health solutions and collaborative efforts with various stakeholders.

“Thank you for bringing us all together. It’s fantastic to make connections within the healthcare sector and beyond. Celebrating 30 years in Romania, I am proud of the impact our medicines and vaccines have had, along with our social initiatives, which have helped improve rural areas. These achievements would not be possible without our teams and partners, emphasizing the importance of forums like this to find synergies and advance the country. As we look forward to the next 30 years, we are excited about the potential for further progress in healthcare. Thank you very much.” Said Marcelo Pascual Morales.
